Zach Wilson's mom is getting some more attention for her Instagram stories. This time Lisa praised her son for standing for the National Anthem before a Jets preseason game.
The National Anthem remains a hot button topic and she immediately caught heat for praising the rookie quarterback.
“Thank you for standing up for America, for God, and for showing all the little boys …what it means to be a true leader.”

This sentiment combined with a pic of NFL QB Zach Wilson standing for the anthem in an NFL stadium implies that the Black players who kneel aren’t “standing up for America” or “for God” or being an example of a “true leader” for children. pic.twitter.com/GbCYrQxeHN

Before the kneeling protests started in 2016, no one praised NFL players for standing for the anthem.
This sort of sentiment became popular as a rebuke to NFL players using the moment to protest police killing Black and Brown folks and systemic racism in this country.

Stand for the anthem, sit for the anthem, kneel or lay down. I really don't care. People losing their mind over what other people decide to do is insane to me.
As long as you aren't causing physical harm to people, have at it. I'm not telling you what to do or what to think and I expect the same in return.
