Vanessa Bryant Responds to the Birth of Her Goddaughter, Named After Her Daughter Gianna

Pau Gasol and his wife Catherine McDonnell welcomed a baby girl on September 10th.  The couple revealed the birth of their daughter weekend.  They also revealed that they named their daughter, Elisabet Gianna Gasol, after Kobe and Vanessa Bryant's daughter Gianna, who died with the Lakers legend in January.

Pau and Kobe were obviously teammates for several seasons with the Lakers, but they remained close friends after their days together in Los Angeles came to an end.  Since Kobe's death the Gasols have remained close to Vanessa and the kids.

Vanessa took to Instagram to respond to the birth of her goddaughter.  She also shared how much Kobe would have loved to have been her godfather.

It's a touching tribute from the Gasols and a great way to make sure they stay connected to the Bryants.  You can bet if Pau ever has a son that he'll be named after Kobe.
