Utah running back Ty Jordan died early Saturday morning after accidentally shooting himself. According to TMZ Sports the 19-year-old freshman shot himself in the hip and was pronounced dead shortly after at the hospital.
Authorities tell TMZ, the victim shot himself in the hip with a handgun. That would certainly suggest it was accidental, but police would offer no additional details.
RIP. This is obviously a difficult time for his family, friends and teammates. Having someone this young die is truly a tragedy.
It's also a reminder to be careful when handling firearms. They're not toys and one wrong move and it can all be over. Be careful out there with firearms.
Rest In Peace, Ty.
