A knee injury forced Julian Edelman to miss significant time last season and ultimately call it a career. The Patriots released him and he announced his retirement shortly after.
That didn't stop the rumors of Edelman joining his former teammates Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in Tampa Bay from making the rounds on the internet.
Brady just added a little bit of fuel to that fire by referring to Edelman as a free agent. He appeared to be joking about one of his favorite targets in New England joining him in Tampa.
Tom Brady just called Edelman a “free agent,” are you kidding me?! Edelman will be on the Bucs this season I am convinced. pic.twitter.com/IofkCxYnqq

Edelman has repeatedly said that his knee is in no shape to play in the NFL. A lot of people aren't buying it.
They still expect to see Edelman in Tampa at some point next season. You can count me among those who wouldn't be surprised by a miraculous recovery and eventual signing with the Bucs.
