Texas announced on Saturday that they have fired head coach Tom Herman after four seasons. The move is an expensive one, Herman is owed $15 million and his staff nearly $24 million in buyout money.
It also comes less than a month after Texas said Herman would be returning next season. It's being reported that Texas is expected to hire Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.
From Eleven Warriors:
“With our football season coming to a close, our vice president and athletics director, Chris Del Conte, has evaluated the UT program’s strengths and weaknesses and where the program is relative to our goals," Texas said in a statement. "We thank Coach Herman for his service and dedication to our student-athletes, our program and our university.”
The move comes less than a month after Texas released a statement announcing Herman would be back for the 2021 season.
Texas will now owe Herman $15 million due to his buyout, with his staff set to earn nearly $24 million.
