There is a huge percentage of people out there who believe that all professional sports are rigged.
They aren't just the people who have bad luck in sports betting, but rather people who understand that this is a huge industry that has a lot of money involved from all levels.
Meaning, that scripting it like the WWE since it's at that top tier "entertainment" level isn't all that hard to wrap your head around.
If they can map out who wins, they can probably even do it without any of the players knowing, just the refs and circumstance.
Why wouldn't they play a season knowing who is going to win at the end ahead of time for planning and logistics purposes.
Also, all the teams need their time to shine and they also need to focus on the teams that will be best for TV ratings, while dragging on playoffs as long as they can. It's a business!
I believe there is some manipulation in who wins and loses, but ultimately, the athletes are still playing to win, so it's still worth watching and anything can happen.
Well, the NHL didn't squash any of those conspiracies in the Boston vs Panthers game that had less than two minutes in the 3rd period left and that the TV network posted up the "GOAL" graphic 30 seconds before the goal that tied up the game.
The Panthers won in overtime, winning the series 4-3 and moving on.
