In this modern world, it is not surprising that a big brand like Sports Illustrated would be using AI to generate articles, because ultimately, it's cost effective and pretty good since no one on the internet actually reads.

The internet doesn't care about personalized banter, personalized commentary and as a human, I can say that I should be replaced by an AI, it's just easier for everyone involved especially since no one reads.

The expectation would be that a big budget organization like SI would be more loyal to their fans, more honest with their fans and that they'd want to give fans some human generated journalism, it's pretty much why they get the big advertising dollars and the whole AI thing is pretty sleazy.

To make this funnier, they've created fake writers to support their fake articles and one of them is named Drew Ortiz.

They describe him as:

“Drew has spent much of his life outdoors, and is excited to guide you through his never-ending list of the best products to keep you from falling to the perils of nature,”

“Nowadays, there is rarely a weekend that goes by where Drew isn’t out camping, hiking, or just back on his parents’ farm.”

Here's Drew:
