A few days ago, you likely saw the story that Silver Medalist and Italian Giorgia Villa did a paid campaign where she modeled or posed in her gymnastics poses with a wheel of parmesan cheese.
If you are Italian, the connection between the wonderful cheese and the athlete makes perfect sense, there's an artistry to cheese making tradition like there is an artistry to her gymnastics.
For whatever reason, the collective low IQs of the internet got really excited about seeing cheese costar in a dramatic shoot, probably because it's hilarious, but it's not any different than any other brand shoot.
The mainstream media is calling her shoot CHEESY, and dropping other witty puns beause they find it so funny, but ultimately Parmigiano Reggiano has very deep pockets, are a huge Italian brand and it costs a lot to train in the sport so athletes need sponsors and cheese companies have budgets to produce ads.
Ultimately, the ad worked and went totally viral, that's our lesson in marketing!
Outside of medals, Olympics, Gymnastics and Parmigiano Reggiano, Giorgia Villa seems pretty fun!
