Santa Clara County in California, home of the 49ers and Stanford, has banned all contact sports for three weeks due to COVID-19.  Still think this about containing the virus or science of any kind?

We all know how much politicians, especially in California, love contact sports like football to begin with.

Given that there hasn't been any proof that playing football spreads the virus I'm going to guess this is another classic case of politicians trying to flex their muscles.

From Yahoo Sports:

“All recreational activities that involve physical contact or close proximity to persons outside one’s household, including all contact sports, will be temporarily prohibited,” the order says under the ““Professional, collegiate and youth sports” header. “People can continue to engage in outdoor athletics and recreation where social distancing can be maintained at all times.”

The 49ers have home games scheduled for Dec. 7 (Buffalo) and Dec. 13 (Washington) while Stanford has a home game set for Dec. 12 (Oregon State) and San Jose State has home games on tap for Dec. 5 (Hawaii) and Dec. 12 (Nevada).

Fuck this.  This isn't about anything but telling people what to do.  Football players who have tested positive for COVID-19 have been just fine.

Most of the time they don't even have symptoms.  They're quarantined immediately and they're certainly not flooding hospitals.

Bottom line it's a bunch of bullshit.
