Russell Wilson wanted off the sinking ship that is the Seattle Seahawks and was granted that wish when they traded him to the Denver Broncos earlier this offseason. Next on his agenda is a new contract. According to reports that new contract is going to be an expensive one.
Wilson's current deal runs through the 2023 season. He reportedly wants a new 5-year, $250 million deal from the Broncos to remain in Denver. Although contract talks have not started.

As it turns out, it might be a case of a reporter doing some wishful thinking or making some sort of educated guess. The reporter credited with throwing out the 5-year, $250 million numbers says he misspoke and he was just spitballing.
Zack, there are no contract talks. No one has asked for anything. I have clarified there is no asking price and I misspoke. I was spitballing. Stop with this. https://t.co/JpAm08gh3e

Misspeaking and spitballing are one thing and there might not be any contract talks currently taking place, but the Broncos are likely going to want Wilson around after his contract ends and it's not going to be cheap to make that happen.
