Rockets big man Christian Wood's career is like a country music song.  One of the ones where the guy ends up winning in the end.  His dog ran away and his woman left them, but he signed a $41 million deal this off-season.

Wood went undrafted in 2015 after renting event space at Caesar’s Palace.  Going undrafted created of the saddest pictures in draft history.  To top it all off, his girlfriend broke up with him that night.

From The Ringer

On the night of the draft, Wood rented an event space at Caesar’s Palace. He invited a few dozen family and friends. “He was so excited at first,” said former UNLV coach Dave Rice. But Wood watched with horror as his name went uncalled in the first round. It wasn’t called in the second round, either.

Somehow, that wasn’t the end of Wood’s misery. “I lost my girlfriend that night, too,” he said. “I dropped her off at the airport after the draft and never saw her again.”

Wood has 41 million reasons to not give two shits about not being drafted or the girlfriend who left him when she thought his paycheck had dried up.

He could have disappeared forever after that night.  He didn't and it's paying off for him big time.
