F2 driver Nikita Mazepin was set to join Haas F1 Team next season. That's now in doubt after he posted a video of himself to Instagram groping a woman in the backseat of a car.
The Haas F1 Team is aware of the video and issued a statement condemning it. As you would expect, Mazepin issued a crafted statement on his Instagram story apologizing for his actions.
In the video the 21-year-old driver can be seen reaching over and grabbing the woman's chest. She responds to the groping by giving the camera the finger.
From Busted Coverage:
Mazepin, who is currently a driver in F2, was set to join Haas F1 Team next season.
That could now be in doubt after his actions.
“Haas F1 Team does not condone the behavior of Nikita Mazepin in the video recently posted on his social media,” a statement from the team read. “Additionally, the very fact the video was posted on social media is also abhorrent to Haas F1 Team. The matter is being dealt with internally and no further comment shall be made at this time.”
I would be very surprised to see Mazepin behind the wheel of a Haas F1 Team car next season. That doesn't mean he won't be racing in F1 at some point.
That also doesn't mean that there is some information out there that could change that. But based on the video alone I wouldn't expect to see him, although crazier things have happened.
