According to the WSJ, Vince McMahon gave $5 million dollars to the Donald J. Trump Foundation over the course of 2 years back in 2007 to 2009, the Trump charity has since been dissolved, but people are getting heated with the news.

The payments are for Trump's appearances on the WWE, where I like to think he learned a little about marketing to the American people, since the WWE does it so well. You could argue that he already knew how to play the media and was a master of marketing when he first started generating fame around himself as a NYC developer in the 80s, up through his work on The Apprentice.

However, the WWE just manages to do that "Good Guy vs Bad Guy" rivalry so well, which you could easily argue is a big part of the Trump movement. So whatever your politics, you know his presidency has divided the country like no other. Some people find him the leader of a horrible cult, while others think he's fighting the corruption, so he's pretty contentious, and always stays in the news, even in stories about the WWE!

The reason this is a story is because Vince McMahon, who recently stepped down as CEO of the WWE due to accusations of inappropriate behavior, spent 19.6 million dollars in unrecorded company expenses, which are surfacing due to McMahon's scandal.

As far as President Trump's involvement, it seems the payment was pretty legit and straight forward because his appearance fee of the “Battle of the Billionaires” was a $4 million dollar donation to his charity according to their contract. The additional $1 million dollars may have been a bonus, but the fact is, it was written out in the contract, so we're not entirely sure why this is a big deal,it's more a McMahon problem than a Trump problem but since it's Trump, the internet is making a big deal out of it. He's a polarizing figure!

The best part of the story is:

"Mr. Trump had his associates review the contract to ensure that under no circumstances would Mr. McMahon be allowed to shave his head, even if Mr. Trump’s wrestler dropped dead in the ring."
