Panthers Have Plans for Cam Newton Beyond This Season

Cam Newton's return to Carolina might not be one-and-done.  There are reports that the Panthers have plans for him beyond this season.

Depending on how Cam plays the rest of this season he could find himself as the Panthers quarterback next season too.

“It all depends on how Cam plays. I know the Panthers look at it and don’t think there are a lot of great options out there with the college prospects,” Glazer said prior to Sunday’s NFL action. “If they can’t land one of the big fish (via trade or signing) in the offseason, they would hope that a guy like Cam Newton can step up and be their future.”

Newton is off to a pretty good start.  He gave the Panthers a spark on offense in their win over the Cardinals and played well on Sunday despite losing to Washington.

One thing is for sure, Sam Darnold has already played himself out of the job.  The Panthers aren't happy with his performance.
