You want to get your star quarterback to return to your team? Quote a dead guy and insult him. That always gets a player to end their holdout.
That's apparently the strategy Packers president Mark Murphy has decided to go with.
On Thursday while addressing Aaron Rodgers' holdout, Murphy brought up something he says former general manager, the late Ted Thompson said about the Packers quarterback.
According to Murphy, Thompson called Rodgers "a complicated fella."
From NBC 26:
"I'm often reminded though... of Ted Thompson, as most of you know, just a great general manager, passed away (earlier this year)," Murphy said. "(Thompson) often talked about Aaron, that he's a... and it wasn't just Aaron, a lot of different players. He would say 'He's a complicated fella.'"
"So, I'll just say that," Murphy said.
That's about as clear as a shot at Rodgers is going to get. Why is he holding out? Not because they haven't drafted any weapons and used a first-round pick on a quarterback.
Nope. He's holding out because he's a complicated fella. If Rodgers has played his last snap for Green Bay, and for the record I hope he has, then the blame is undeniably on their front office.
