The quarterback market is starting to take shape. The Packers are keeping Aaron Rodgers, the Broncos have acquired Russell Wilson, and the Commanders landed Carson Wentz and what's left of his massive contract.
Jimmy Garoppolo is still expected to be moved as is Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Both of them have some things that complicate their trade situation. Jimmy G had shoulder surgery and Watson still has those sexual assault lawsuits hanging over him.
That doesn't mean there aren't teams interested in both of them. The Colts are interested in Jimmy G. Watson has as many as 10 teams keeping tabs on his situation, including the Panthers who remain "extremely interested" in Watson.
From Larry Brown Sports:
Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is “extremely interested” in acquiring Watson, Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reports. The Panthers have been described as “all-in” for Watson and have been keeping a close eye on the situation for over a year. It is well known within the Panthers organization that the team wants Watson.
Of course, Carolina might have some competition. Watson is still under criminal investigation after he was accused of sexual assault by nearly two dozen women. Prosecutors have yet to announce whether he will face charges. Once that decision is made, he could draw interest from several teams. Wilson reports that as many as 10 teams are actively monitoring the situation.
Why not? The Panthers have turned the quarterback position into a revolving door. And they've done so with moves from an owner with too much say in the football operations. Let the football guys do the football.
