Nick Foles has gone from the Bears answer at quarterback to being a very expensive backup. He did some great things for a few weeks last year before his lack of mobility became a huge issue.
The Bears signed Andy Dalton this off-season, crowned him QB1, then drafted Ohio State's Justin Fields. That leaves Foles well out of the mix in Chicago. The Bears reportedly attempted to trade him back to the Eagles.
The trade, according to NFL insider Tyler Dunne, fell through because Foles didn't want to go back to Philadelphia for a third time.
From BroBible:
The Bears tried cleansing their hands of the Nick Foles mistake by trading Foles back to Philly. Foles didn’t want to go, one source says, so the Eagles refused to trade for a QB who wouldn’t report.
You can't blame Foles for not wanting to return to Philly. He saved them multiple times after Carson Wentz got hurt and they stuck with Wentz. Now both of them are gone and he has no intentions of returning.
