Mike Zimmer Says the Vikings “Kept the Ratings Up” After Almost Blowing a 29 Point Lead

The Vikings are Viagra for ratings.  After jumping out to a 29-0 lead they let the Steelers back into the game and needed a great play at the end of the game to prevent the possibility of overtime.

The Vikings showed on Thursday night how they go from beating a team like the Packers and losing to a team like the Lions.  This is nothing new to Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.

Zimmer's postgame press conference tells you all you need to know about this team.

From Pro Football Talk:

“Another fun night,” Zimmer said. “The team that played in the first half was pretty darn good and probably could beat anybody. The team that played in the second half could get beat by anybody. . . . We kept the TV ratings up, too, so that’s good. Every week we do it.”

Zimmer was also asked if there was any point in the second half when he thought, “Here we go again.” Zimmer answered, “Yeah, the whole time.”

The Vikings, if they somehow make it into the playoffs, could make some noise.  Or they could get blown out in the first round.  It all depends on what Vikings team shows up, the first half or the second half team.
