Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph has no intentions of spending his career as a backup.  He's currently the only quarterback under contract in 2022 and expects to be the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh.

In fact, when asked, Rudolph seemed to hint that Roethlisberger would be retiring.  He said that being the Steelers starting quarterback is his goal for next season.

From Larry Brown Sports:

"That's my goal, to be a starting quarterback in this league, and for my team."

Ben Roethlisberger's time in the NFL is definitely coming to an end, but he hasn't said whether or not this season would be his last.  At least not publicly.  Maybe Mason knows something we don't.

Or maybe that helmet to the head did more damage than originally thought.  It's hard to say if the Steelers view him as the answer when Big Ben calls it quits.  We'll soon find out...
