Maria Sharapova is Engaged

Maria Sharapova is preparing for the next phase of her life after retiring from tennis earlier this year. That next phase will include wedding bells.

The retired tennis star took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that she and British businessman Alexander Gilkes are engaged.

It was apparently love at first site for the Russian beauty, who is now running a candy business.

Now normally I would trash the dual social media engagement announcement, much as I do when I see a gender reveal, but these two didn't rub her enormous rock in everyone's face.

She probably received an unreal ring, but they kept it about love and being a lucky boy or whatever. So I'm going to completely respect that and not at all laugh about how lame the whole thing really is.
