The Lakers remade their roster this off-season. As a result the roster got much, much older. LeBron and company proved to not have enough firepower to go back-to-back and by firepower I mean star power.
Los Angeles fixed that by trading for Russell Westbrook on the night of the draft. Have to have that third star to be a true super team after all. They then followed up that move by collecting players in their 30s.
Lakers age:
37 — Carmelo Anthony
36 — LeBron James
36 — Marc Gasol
36 — Trevor Ariza
36 — Jared Dudley*
35 — Dwight Howard
34 — Wes Matthews*
33 — Wayne Ellington
32 — Russell Westbrook
32 — Kent Bazemore(Submitted by @iKnowYuwanto) pic.twitter.com/HAQ7k6OlRK

The moves made the Lakers one of the oldest teams of all-time. But don't tell LeBron that. He's not happy that everyone is trashing his old ass team. He took to Twitter in a now deleted tweet to make sure the haters keep the same energy when the Geriatric Lakers start their season.
Someone close to him must have pointed out how absurd the tweet is. The Lakers are old, there are several players past their prime and etc, etc, etc.
All that doesn't mean LeBron, Anthony Davis and Westbrook still can't drag the nursing home to a title. He did more with way less in Cleveland...
