Kyle Shanahan Denies Rumors That the 49ers Traded Up to Draft Mac Jones

Kyle Shanahan denied rumors that the 49ers traded up to draft former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.  The rumor was started by his buddy Chris Simms.

Obviously when Simms talks about anything involving the 49ers people listen, given how close he is with Shanahan.  But the 49ers head coach wants to put that belief to rest.

"Chris talks about everything, which is why I haven't talked to him in a couple years." Kyle Shanahan making it pretty clear that Chris Simms doesn't know what the #49ers are doing at third overall.

Whether it's Mac Jones or not it seems pretty obvious that the 49ers are planning to draft Jimmy Garoppolo's replacement.  There's really no other reason to trade up to the No. 3 overall pick.  We will find out how truthful Shanahan is when the draft rolls around.
