Ben Simmons attempted to force the Sixers to trade him by not showing up to training camp. When that didn't work he eventually showed up, but he had no intentions of being a full participant.
Simmons was spotted practicing with his phone in his pocket on Monday. He also appeared to be disinterested in everything going on around him. On Tuesday he proved that.
According to sources, Simmons was asked to join a defensive drill and refused. He was sent home and suspended for the Sixers season opener on Wednesday.
Sources: Doc Rivers asked Ben Simmons to join a defensive drill today. Simmons refused. Rivers asked again. Simmons said no again.
Rivers then told Simmons he should go home, and Simmons dropped the ball and left.

The 76ers say Ben Simmons has been suspended for one game for “detrimental conduct” to the team.
Simmons will not play the 76ers’ season opener at New Orleans Wednesday night.

After the incident, center Joel Embiid was asked about it and didn't hold back. He said he doesn't care about Simmons and it's not his job to babysit him.
Joel Embiid: “At this point I don’t care about that man.”

It might not be Embiid's job, but it sounds like Simmons needs one. He's going full bratty child on the 76ers. That's always a good idea.
There's no better way to reveal your true self to any team interested in trading for you than by acting like a two-year-old because the team paying you millions won't trade you. What a bitch.
