In other words, J.J. Watt asked to be released and the Texans agreed to make the move. The team thanked the team's all-time sack leader as they announced the move.
Always a Texan. Thank you, @JJWatt.https://t.co/2RNwmXRdKZ

Watt's release is probably not the last move involving a high profile player that the Texans will be making this off-season, quarterback Deshaun Watson still wants out.
Here's what the captain of the Texans sinking ship had to say about Watt's release.
From Houston Texans:
"Change is never easy, especially when it involves the ones you love. J.J.'s impact on not only our organization, but the entire Houston community, is unlike any player in our franchise's history," said Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair. "I told J.J. earlier this week that we will forever consider him a Texan. We take solace in knowing that this is not a goodbye but a 'see you soon.' For now, we will build upon the foundation that J.J. created here and forge ahead with our unwavering mission to bring a championship to our city, create memorable experiences for our fans and do great things for Houston."
The Texans allowed Bill O’Brien to get this ball of destruction rolling and it isn't showing any signs of slowing down. What happens with Watson's situation should be interesting.
