Ivan Provorov is a Russian born NHL Player for the Flyers, who is going viral today because he did not wear an LGBTQ+ Pride Jersey for the pre-game skate, which for whatever reason, offended A LOT of people.
The reason Provorov didn't wear the jersey is because it literally goes against his Russian Orthodox religion.
When asked about it by the media, he said he respects everyone's choice to live how they want and it is his choice to not wear the jersey. Which sounds reasonable if you're from the crowd that endorses living alternative lifestyles and having those lifestyles accepted by the masses.
Obviously in this era of inclusivity, you have be inclusive to everyone, unless you don't behave exactly how they want you to, then they try to destroy you, so not quite inclusive to everyone at all, just inclusive to those who do what you say.
I don't think it's a hate crime to not wear a pride flag if you don't want to for ANY and all reasons, but the public, which I don't think is the general consensus, but rather the raging woke mob of twitter, who probably don't even watch the NHL, want the player to be fined 1,000,000 dollars, because I guess that's a nice round number that makes sense to them as punishment for the "bigotry" not realizing that fining him for his personal beliefs, is like fining them for their personal sexual orientation. It's all so nutty!
Luckily, the NHL is more reasonable and have said that Players decide what initiatives they support and not the other way around!
I think Provorov sums it all up nicely when she said "ask me questions about hockey", which is really what this should be about, not inclusivity, activism, politics, just straight up Hockey!
It would be nice to go back to that, since people can live however they want, it doesn't mean we need everyone in the world to go along with while they are living however they want! Be proud of being gay, be proud of being Russian Orthodox, be proud of identifying as whatever you want to identify as, but that doesn't mean we need to be proud of each others lifestyles, choices, or existence.
