The Lions fired head coach Matt Patricia the day after an embarrassing Thanksgiving Day loss. His firing was well received by most fans and former Lions players.
One "Lions fan" defending Patricia caught the eye of someone on Twitter and they were quickly convinced that the fan was actually Matt Patricis's burner account.
Here's what they uncovered:
I’m 100% convinced this is Matt Patricia’s burner.
The account didn’t tweet between September 4th and today. And look at the tweets and replies. All they follow are former/current Lions, former/current Pats, and Barstool. Oh, and Matt Patricia’s middle name is Edward lmao https://t.co/YduKDzYLWK

The Big Lead took a deeper dive into the fan account and what they found appears to support that the account is actually Matt Patricia's burner:
Looking at Eddy P's account, the person behind it makes a compelling case. He did not tweet once during during any of the games which Patrica coached this season, which is odd for such a passionate fan. The tweets were all on September 3rd and 4th and then tonight, two days after Patricia was let go.
Every tweet is a reply to another tweet about the Detroit Lions, with most of them specifically about Patricia.
Twenty-one of Eddy P's 30 tweets feature the words "Coach Patricia."
Matt Patricia's middle name is Edward.
Eddy P's bio says he is a "dad of 3." Matt Patricia has three children.
His bio says "tech nerd." Patricia graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
If he really a big Lions fan, surely he would have found time to tweet about the Lions during the Lions' season. Instead, he waited until after Patricia got fired to jump back online and tweet things that sound an awful lot like first hand accounts.
I love everything about this. Salty former players and coaches creating fake accounts to support themselves is one of my favorite things about social media.
If this isn't Patricia's burner then whoever created the account and went through the trouble of making it look like it is deserves an award.
