The internet is spreading this story as a failure of Walmart and we would never defend Walmart, but we do like people to take accountability for their own actions if they are in the wrong.

Meaggan Pettipiece is a former Olympic Athlete, she plays Softball. She was arrested for failing to scan a ham and asparagus on a $176 order. She got caught and claimed it was an accident, as most self checkout scammers do.

The reality is, we aren't trained cashiers, we aren't paid to be there or to do that job and Walmart should take responsibility for employing us with their jobs to save them money. We're bound to make mistakes.

It's still not Walmart's fault that she stole.

The police s searched her purse, found 2 vape pens and two packs of a cancer medication called Zofran.

She got charged with stealing and possession of the controlled substance and she had to resign from her job as an NCAA division 1 coach.

The plot twist is that she did in-fact scan the ham and the asparagus, but the Walmart machine didn't register the scan. The vape pens didn't have THC in them and the cancer pills weren't for her.

The charges were dropped with a little "Oops, people make mistakes" but the 48 year old's career was damaged and life ruined.
