Former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III made his first appearance in court on Wednesday. He had cuts on his face and was wearing a neck brace during the proceedings.
Further details from the fatal crash came out. Ruggs was driving his Corvette at 156 MPH with a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit prior to the accident. His bail was set at $150,000.
From Las Vegas Review-Journal:
Chief Deputy District Attorney Eric Bauman said Ruggs was traveling at 156 mph about 2 seconds before the crash. He was at 127 mph when airbags deployed.
“I cannot recall a speed that high in my career on the bench,” Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure said.
The judge then ordered a $150,000 bail for Ruggs and the highest level of electronic monitoring if he is released. Prosecutors had requested a $1 million bail.
Bauman said Ruggs’ blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, and a loaded gun was found in the car. The legal limit for drivers in Nevada is 0.08 percent.

Holy shit! 156 MPH is absolutely insane when someone is sober let alone drunk. Nothing good was going to happen yesterday morning. Unfortunately his carelessness took someone else's life.
