Veteran running back Frank Gore is going to sign with the 49ers. No he's not coming back for a 17th season. The 39-year-old is signing a one-day contract on Thursday to retire as a 49er.
The 49ers, the team he played the first 10 years of his career for, are planning to have the ceremony for Gore on Thursday afternoon. Gore is going to turn his focus to a professional boxing career.
Via Larry Brown Sports:
Gore will sign a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, according to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group. That will allow him to retire as a member of the organization, which is something that he recently said is important to him. The Niners are planning to have a ceremony with Gore on Thursday afternoon.
Is there a better way to button up a Hall of Fame career? I can't think of any. Now he's on to make sure he gets CTE if already doesn't have it.
