Former NBA player Shannon Brown, who won two championships with the Lakers, was arrested over the weekend and charged with one count of aggravated assault. He's accused of firing his rifle at a couple who was interested in buying his house, which is up for sale.
According to The Citizen, the couple was interested in buying Brown's house and entered the home after they say they were invited inside the unlocked front door. They were greeted by Brown holding a rifle. He then allegedly fired shots at them as they left.
Shannon Brown, 34, was charged with one count of aggravated assault, according to Fayette County Jail records.
Tyrone Police Department spokesman Philip Nelson said a man and woman who said they were looking for homes for sale at approximately 6 p.m. stopped at a home in the River Oaks subdivision off Ga. Highway 74. The home has a for sale sign outside, Nelson added.
The couple told police the gate to the property was open, as was the front door, Nelson said, adding that the couple maintained they announced their presence as they entered the home, and that someone inside the home said, “Come in.”
At one point, Brown emerged holding a rifle, with the couple telling police they withdrew from the house and that Brown fired five or six rounds in their direction as they were leaving, Nelson said.
Call me crazy but something isn't adding up here. Why would Brown invite the couple inside then open fire on them?
I'm not saying crazier shit hasn't gone down involving athletes, but this story sounds more like these two walked in unannounced and Brown was greeting what he thought was intruders.
Granted his mugshot isn't helping out the case I'm laying out, but until proven otherwise that's what I'm choosing to believe happened.
