The Cowboys first game without the injured Dak Prescott was an absolute disaster. They were blown out at home by the Arizona Cardinals.
Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense had their way with the Cowboys defense. The Dallas offense with Andy Dalton looked terrible.
Two early fumbles by Ezekiel Elliott, who has recently developed a fumbling problem, did help things and led to two Cardinals touchdowns. After the game Zeke took the blame for the loss.
From ESPN:
Ezekiel Elliott took the blame for the loss to Arizona, not pinning it on Dak Prescott’s absence. “I don’t think we can use that as an excuse,” Elliott said. “I’m just going to keep saying it over and over – I started the game out with two fumbles, gave the ball away and gave them all the momentum they need to go take off. I want to say I’m sorry and this one is one me. I need to be better.”
He's not wrong. The plan with Dak out is to feed Zeke. If Zeke's going to keep throwing up when he's fed then the plan is screwed.
The plan was definitely screwed on Monday night. There were a lot of disappointed Cowboys fans after Monday night's ugly performance.
On the flip side of that, nobody is happier than Cowboys haters.
