Colts quarterback Carson Wentz, who did not seek the Aaron Rodgers immunization method and is unvaccinated, was placed on the COVID-19 list. If he did test positive he'll miss Week 17's game against the Raiders.
Rookie Sam Ehlinger would be the presumed started if Wentz can't play. He can probably hand the ball off just as well as Wentz has up to this point in the season.
From Pro Football Talk:
The Colts announced on Tuesday that Wentz, who is unvaccinated, has been placed on the COVID-19 list. If Wentz tested positive, under the league’s current protocols, he is out for 10 days. That means he’ll miss the Week 17 contest against the Raiders but has a chance to play in the season finale against the Jaguars — though he would have little practice time for that contest.
But if Wentz is a close contact, he is out for only five days if he continues to produce negative tests.
As I suggested, Ehlinger should be able to fill in for Wentz. He'll have to complete 10 or so passes and make sure he doesn't fumble any of the handoff exchanges. He's a rookie but he should be able to handle it.
