ESPN reported on Wednesday that Colin Kaepernick has a workout scheduled for this week for the Las Vegas Raiders. It's his first work out with an NFL team since the 49ers released him in 2017.
Colin Kaepernick, who last played professional football in 2016 -- the year he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice -- is scheduled to work out this week for the Las Vegas Raiders, league sources told ESPN.
It will mark Kaepernick's first workout with an NFL team since being exiled, and it will be the first time the former star quarterback visits with a team since he flew to Seattle to meet with the Seattle Seahawks in May 2017 before they passed on the opportunity to sign him.
This comes after Raiders owner Mark Davis said he believes in Kaepernick and would welcome him with open arms if his GM and coaches wanted the 34-year-old. According to OutKick's Armando Salguero, the workout is Wednesday.
Kaepernick isn't likely to take Derek Carr's job, but Garrett Gilbert and Nick Mullens might be in trouble.
