Aaron Rodgers immediately called bullshit on the story that he was planning to boycott the Super Bowl if the Packers made it that far. That rumor started from a text message former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason received.
Later Esiason and his co-host Gregg Giannotti confirmed that the text was a prank. Who sent the text? Colin Cowherd has a theory. He thinks it could be coming from someone connected to Rodgers.
"Several years ago, when I was ripping Aaron Rodgers, I got a text from a Virginia number anonymously giving me inside information on the Packers. Some of it was pretty darn detailed, like way more than your typical fan. So I looked up the number, I looked up the address of the number, and in no way did it appear to be somebody that worked for an NFL team. But there was too much information for it not to be an insider."
"It was almost like someone was trying to set me up to look bad. It was almost like somebody was trying to set Boomer up to look bad. Is it possible that somebody in Aaron Rodgers' camp is trying to create, when the criticism gets hot, a little misinformation campaign which he can use to validate the inaccuracy of the media?"

That's a possibility. It's also a possibility that the media is just full of shit too. Boomer went for the headlines and he got a ton of free attention for his show. So it ended up being a prank, Boomer and company were the alleged victims of the prank.
What are they supposed to do? Not report on every single text message they receive no matter how ridiculous it is?
