Rising UFC star, Sean O’Malley, has been given some backhanded advice recently, from the king of cringe himself, Henry Cejudo, following the booking with Petr Yan.
It was announced that Sean O’Malley (15-1) will clash with Petr Yan (16-3) at UFC 280 on October 22, 2022 at the Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
This will be the biggest fight of his career, taking on the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.
This is what Cejudo had to say:
“My initial reaction to that fight? First of all, I thought me and you were going to fight, Sean! I told you October I was available, but I get it, Petr Yan is a more winnable fight for you, because more likely this is what you want.”
“And if I was to give you two cents Sean O’Malley, A.K.A. Ronald Methdonald, the only way for you to win this fight, and you could win this fight, is going to be based on two things: You, using your distance. Front kicks keep them at bay, and doing what you do because they are first things that you do do right, and those are your fakes, your feints, you’re able to set your hips. This is why you’re able to catch your strikes or your hands. You see, I think winning the distance game and I think the other thing to is, where people are going to be very surprised to see from you, is you using your grappling.”
Henry Cejudo continued:
“So, number 1 is your distance game. Number 2 is why not surprise people with your grappling? So you can recognize pretty well. But if your position is off, someone’s going to kick that front leg and I think that’s where more likely Petr Yan’s going to eventually go. He’s going to be looking to transition, take this, take this fight and make it dirty.”
In what we will assume was an unrelated comment, Sean O’Malley encourages other UFC fighters to “do better” on social media, while recently admitting “I make twice as much money on social media."
In recent years, O’Malley has certainly raised his stock via social media. It’s helped him garner success with his own podcast as well as merchandise. Overall, the Sean O’Malley brand is booming and whether you like him or not, the “Sugar” show is money in the bank.
“I’ll say it for you. Their social media is whack. I’d say I am definitely the biggest name in the division, one of the biggest names in the UFC right now. A lot of other fighters, they can do better on social media, they’re just boring people. So, maybe they just couldn’t get it on social media. But they should at least try.”
O’Malley went on to claim that he’s made more money wth social media than he has fighting. “I make twice as much money on social media."
So if you're in Glendale Arizona this weekend, you can let O’Malley know what you think at this event he is promoting.
But after watching this video, maybe you should only say nice things to the fighter.
What do think of Henry's breakdown of Ronal... er Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan? Where are you putting your money?
