Cavaliers rookie guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested in Ohio early Sunday morning for improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle. Police responded to a rollover crash around 2 a.m. and found a loaded .45-caliber handgun and marijuana at the scene.
Police believe Porter Jr. was fatigued at the time of the crash and that he was not impaired. He was released on bond a few hours after the arrest. The Cavs are aware of the situation and will handle it privately with him.
From News 5 Cleveland:
Porter has cooperated with police for the entire investigation.
The Cavaliers released the following statement:
“We are aware of the situation involving Kevin Porter Jr. and are in the process of gathering information. We have spoken with Kevin and will continue to address this privately with him as the related process evolves.”
Nothing good happens that early in the morning. I have no idea what improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle means, but Porter Jr should have stayed wherever he was and got some rest before rolling his vehicle.
