Cam Newton Wants to Play Next Season

Cam Newton wants to play football next season.  He doesn't want to play for a bad team and is willing to take a backup role in order to play for a winner.

"At this point forward, I'm not coming back for no 5-12,'' Newton said. "I can tell you that now. If it's about winning, I'm with it. If it's not, I won't hitch my wagon to it.''

If Newton wants to play for a winner that would suggest he has played his last down as a Panther.  Carolina has a good defense that played at a very high level at times this season.

They have no direction on offense and a terrible offensive line.  It's a tough situation for any quarterback to step into.  They like to blame the quarterback play, but the truth is the line didn't do their job and they're not a good team.

Newton's willingness to play for a winner and in a backup role might also suggest he has played in his last NFL football game.  He might not find that ideal situation and may never find a team to sign with next season.
