Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis tweeted then deleted an anti-Asian slur over the weekend. He would later deliver an interesting apology.
According to Davis the word means something else in southern Florida. And it's the media's fault, not his, for not knowing what the actual meaning is.
I used a term that from where I come from has always meant “lame”but I did not realize it has a much darker, negative connotation. I have learned a valuable lesson and want to apologize to anyone that was offended by seeing that word because we need to focus on helping each other

I would expect the Bucs to treat this situation much like the Heat did Meyers Leonard's situation. Except they probably won't suspend him, then trade him.
So Davis likely won't be released by his new team like Leonard was after he used a word he claimed to not know the meaning of.
Other than that Davis will probably face the same consequences...
