Tex Hollywood - December 8, 2022

By now, you've heard the news, that Brittney Griner has been freed from her multi-year contract with a Russian Prison Camp for smuggling contraband in a foreign country, where it is illegal to bring said substance and where you end up in jail when you do.

I'm all about the "if you do the crime, do the time" because smuggling drugs into Russia is just idiotic and should be punished but my opinion is not the favored one in the world, as people cry and protest and whine to release her and to bring her back home because breaking the law isn't a big deal when you're a WNBA star, at least that's the message being sent.

In the deal, that I think is more a social media meme created from social media outrage to virtue signal whatever agenda being pushed, Griner was part of a 1 to 1 prison exchange with Viktor Bout, a former Soviet Army guy who was the world's biggest arms dealer, providing terrorist groups with millions of dollars of weapons. His 25 year sentence probably came from the USA spending millions of dollars to track him down and lock him up, but I don't know the details of any of that, but his nickname was "Merchant of Death", so you know he's a serious criminal you'd want behind bars and freeing him for a WNBA player is nuts to me..

It definitely doesn't seem like a fair trade considering how important drug smuggling WNBA players are in the world, or how badly you'd want to keep someone whose nickname is "merchant of death behind bars".

That's not to discount that Griner's situation was a bad one, even though I have no idea what WNBA team she plays for, because the WNBA doesn't matter, but it's a story for the normies to cry about with their female basketball team, or over dinner, maybe even one to campaign for or raise money for, but to celebrate the release of someone marketed as a dangerous monster in exchange for an idiot drug smuggler, is weird to me.

It's just to say it seems like it wasn't a very fair deal, maybe there are more important Americans behind Russian prison walls, but it looks good to the morons of the world who just know keywords, catch phrases like "Free Brittney" protest signs. It's a feel good story to them!

It seems like Micah Parsons from the Cowboys is getting some hate for his stance, since there is apparently a Marine in prison that would have been a more logical trade, since Marines are actual heroes, but what do I know.

He clarified what he meant, which I understand, it's not to say "keep Griner in Russia to Rot", it's more to say, aren't there other people more deserving to be traded for some high profile criminal?

Now we can all wait for the movie or TV series of the ordeal, who do you think they'll cast to play Britney Griner?
