Arkansas State defensive back Samy Johnson was stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital in an ambulance after making a tackle. The injury occurred on the first play of the second half.
Johnson chased down Coastal Carolina running back Shermari Jones and pulled him down. After making the play Johnson stayed down on the ground reaching for his lower back.
Luckily it sounds like Johnson will be okay and was taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. Johnson tweeted out thanks for all of the prayers and said he was doing ok.
Thanks for all of the prayers everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know im doing ok and I greatly appreciate everyone! 🖤❤

Good news and you can't blame the medical staff for stretching off Johnson and taking him to the hospital. Neck and back injuries could be very serious.
