OLYMPICS
Tex Hollywood - March 18, 2025
Alica Schmidt posted a video of her in top running form saying something like "Run like a Girl".
That's sexist in this genderless world, it would be non-inclusive to say something like this and she should be cancelled for it, obviously.
It is possible that things work different in Germany, it's the old country, so you never know.
It's probably ok to be proud of being a woman in sport, operating at an elite level, in which you can brag about running like a girl.
She's an Olympian, a trained runner, so despite being a runner and not the kind of girl runner you'd mock in a foot race because she's top notch.
She probably missed the whole running like a girl means running daintily through the field, or in a scene in a horror movie from a predator, and not the kind of running like a girl where she's an athlete.
If anything, she's giving girls unrealistic expectations in their running abilities, because next to none will be this good.
Making them feel inadequate that they are the traditional girl runner and not the show off kind of girl runner.
If anything, maybe gender should be taken out of it, and Alica should say something more realistic like "run like an Olympian who has trained 6 days a week for 10 years in both running, the gym and nutritionally to get here".
Maybe we are over thinking it.
