Alabama defensive back Jordan Battle was ejected from the National Championship game for targeting after a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit on Ohio State tight end Jeremy Ruckert.

Even more dangerous than the big time hit is the fact that Ruckert stayed in the game without being checked out.  He was very slow to get up after the shot to the head.

The ejection is what it is.  It's a dangerous hit and no doubt about it should have been called for targeting.  But Ruckert was clearly rocked by the hit and at the very least should have missed a play or two while a doctor took a look at him.
