Earl Thomas hasn't played in the NFL since he punched a teammate at practice during the 2020 preseason. On Friday it was reported that a judge in Austin had issued an arrest warrant for the former NFL star.
This warrant comes after police say Thomas violated a court protective order. He allegedly sent threatening messages to a woman about her and her children. Thomas is in the middle of a divorce.
From Austin-American Statesman:
According to court records, Magistrate George Thomas signed a warrant on April 27 charging Thomas with a third-degree felony for allegedly violating the protective order order two or more times within 12 months. The case has been assigned to a Travis County district court.
As of Friday afternoon, Thomas had not been booked into the Travis County jail.
This isn't how you get back into the league after missing a couple of seasons. At least I don't think it is.
I wouldn't think teams would line up for a guy after an arrest warrant has been issued for him. Not this version of Earl Thomas anyway.
Stranger things have happened. Deshaun Watson was traded for and signed to a fully guaranteed contract with over 20 sexual assault lawsuit. So there is that.
