According to Kenan Thompson's IMDB, his first acting gig was in 1994's Emilio Estevez led D2: The Mighty Ducks, where he played Russ. A role he revisited in 1996 in D3: The Mighty Ducks.
Anyone raised in the 90s probably remembers the iconic Disney franchise that became an actual NHL Franchise team, but they may not remember Kenan Thompson was in it or really anything about the movie since it really isn't that good of a movie, but he was in it and he had a move called "Knuckle Puck" slap shot, which I guess was a major plot point.

ESPN+ decided to bring that back with Kenan Thompson, now in his mid 40s and probably best known for being the longest running cast members on SNL, and Hockey star PK Subban.
Subban, a Canadian retired NHL player who played for Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predator and ended his career in New Jersey with the Devils, is still active as an Analyst for ESPN and clearly part of their viral marketing strategy.
