You probably all remember the Manti Te'o and his huge catfishing story a few years back, where the NFL player became the punchline of a joke after he lost his grandmother and girlfriend on the same day, only to find out that his girlfriend wasn't real, but was instead the product of a sophisticated catfishing hoax by someone named Ronaiah “Naya” Tuiasosopo.
They've made a documentary about the story and both parties were interviewed for it. They both didn't like how the story played out in the media or how either of them were portrayed, so this is their way of clearing things up, while bringing back the memory of the memes and jokes spread because of the fateful catfishing story.
This is the synopsis:
Born into a Hawaiian paradise, All-American football standout Manti Te'o leads a simple life summed up in just three words: faith, family, football. College football's golden boy could do no wrong, but when tragedy strikes, the increased scrutiny of his online relationship causes a media maelstrom that threatens his future and legacy. Featuring in-depth interviews with Manti Te’o and the person behind the online identity, Ronaiah ‘Naya’ Tuiasosopo.
