Four retired NHL players, who were part of Canada’s 2003 world junior hockey lineup, say they were not aware of the alleged group sex assault involving members of that year’s team.

Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, Jordin Tootoo, Carlo Colaiacovo, and Nathan Paetsch took to Twitter over the weekend, stating that they hadn’t heard of the incident before the allegation surfaced in a TSN report on Friday.

Colaiacovo, a former Toronto Maple Leaf who now co-hosts a TSN hockey radio show, also took to Twitter, saying he was saddened to hear about the
allegations against his world junior team.

“As a member of that team, it is important that everyone is aware that I had no involvement or knowledge of any incidents whatsoever. I will fully co-operate with any investigations,” he wrote.

For those not up to speed on the story, here it is via CBC

Two of Canada's men's world junior hockey teams are being investigated by police following alleged group sexual assaults in 2003 and 2018.

Halifax Regional Police confirmed on Friday that they are investigating a historic assault at the world junior hockey championships in 2003 and shortly afterwards the force in London, Ont., announced that it is reopening its investigation into an incident involving members of the 2018 team.

The two police investigations are the latest developments in an ongoing crisis that has rocked Hockey Canada and led to its funding being suspended by the federal government and several major corporate sponsors.

According to TSN's reporting, there is an allegation of group sexual assault where more than a half-dozen players from the 2003 world junior team were recorded while engaging in sex with a woman who was "naked and non-responsive."

It has been 19 years since this allegedly took place. Does this mean we will see more allegations about other teams? Is this unfortunate event an anomaly or is hockey about to be me too’d?
