Davante Adams and the Packers couldn't come to terms on a new contract this offseason. From the sounds of it there isn't anything that Green Bay could have done to keep him on the roster. He wanted to join Derek Carr on the Raiders and according to Carr's brother David, Adams had been trying to get traded to the Raiders for five years.
Davante Adams actually tried to get traded to the #Raiders and Derek Carr from the #Packers and Aaron Rodgers for several years, according to Derek's brother, NFL Network's analyst David Carr.

On Adams relationship with @derekcarrqb compared to Rodgers, per @RapSheet
While Carr is one of his good personal friends, his relationship with AR is professional but "not much more than that". Adams also had concerns on how much longer Aaron will play given recent offseasons. pic.twitter.com/MAiaiuH9jI

The NFL Network host and analyst went on "The Rich Eisen Show" earlier this week and told host Rich Eisen that Adams had been trying to play with his brother for five years now and that he has a personal relationship with his brother and a more of a professional relationship with Aaron Rodgers.
"It's something they've tried to make happen for five years now, since Davante signed his contract extension several years ago with the Packers," Carr told Eisen. "Derek was pushing to get him there and Davante was really close man, a couple years ago they were really close to making that happen."
If you're going to have a really good regular season and fizzle out in the playoffs you might as well do it with your best friend. He went as far as he could go in Green Bay and he knew it.
