The Urban Meyer experiment ended in December after just 13 games. He coached the Jaguars to a 2-11 record and had one controversy after another during his brief stint in Jacksonville.
Meyer went from getting a lap dance in a bar from a young lady who isn't his wife, after staying in Ohio while his team flew back to Jacksonville, to allegations that he kicked one of his players.
In other words a complete shit show. Jaguars owner Shad Khan talked about losing respect for Urban Meyer who he calls a liar without calling him a liar.
From USA Today Sports:
“When you lose the respect, the trust and an issue of truthfulness, how can you work with someone like that?” Khan told USA TODAY Sports. “It’s not possible.”
“It was not about wins and losses,” said Khan, whose two coaches previous to Meyer, Doug Marrone and Gus Bradley, posted records of 25-44 and 14-48, respectively. “I think when you know someone is not truthful, how can you be around someone, OK? We had Doug Marrone here four years. We had Gus Bradley here four years. I have nothing but the utmost respect and friendship with them. That’s why they got the time, because it wasn’t a matter about respect or truth. It was a matter of wins and losses over four years. This is much bigger than that.”
I feel bad for Khan here. He obviously wasn't keeping a close eye on Meyer's career in coaching. This is exactly who Urban Meyer is and has always been. If I had to guess, given the fact that he's 57, it's going to be who he is forever.
