Ryan Tannehill Says It’s Not His Job to Mentor His Replacement Malik Willis

The Titans traded away wide receiver A.J. Brown and drafted quarterback Malik Willis in the third round of the draft.  Not exactly moves quarterback Ryan Tannehill was excited about.

In fact the Titans didn't tell him they were drafting a quarterback.  So when Tannehill was asked about mentoring Willis it's understandable that he wouldn't be volunteering for that.

"I texted Malik right after we drafted him as well.  I have no problems with Malik.  We're looking to add talent and guys that can help us.  We'll add him to the room and go from there.  That's part of being in a quarterback room, in the same room, we're competing against each other, we're watching the same tape, we're doing the same drills.  I don't think it’s my job to mentor him.  But if he learns from me along the way, then that's a great thing."

You can't blame Tannehill.  They traded away his best weapon then drafted a quarterback.  He sees the writing on the wall and knows another disappointing playoff showing is going to punch his ticket out of town.
