A.J. Brown wanted a new contract before the start of the season and thanks to a Draft Night trade with the Eagles he ended up with one. Shortly after being dealt to Philly he agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract that includes $57 million guaranteed.
According to reports, Brown wanted a $25 million per year deal with the Titans with $80 million guaranteed. That wasn't going to happen and Tennessee ended sending him packing.
In fact, the term "$80 million guaranteed" was apparently thrown around by Brown's reps, who said he would "not be touching the grass" during the offseason until a new deal was done.

I'm all for dudes getting paid, but if you're demanding $80 million guarantee, then end up accepting a lot less somewhere else, you didn't really want to be with the team you were claiming you wanted a new deal from.
The trade is a win-win for both Brown and the Titans.
